A look into our Near-COVID Future

So every college student in America seems to have decided “enough of this shit” and gone to football games this past weekend.

Good… it’s time for this to be over. We understand the risk, we know who is most vulnerable. We can, and should, go back to our lives.

But still, a lot of folks are wondering what kind nof damage these crowded football stadiums might cause in a couple of weeks. Well I have looked into the future and I am here to tell you the answer to the riddle.

Here’s what will happen…. a lot of young healthy people will get mild or asymptomatic cases of COVID. A few will require hospitalization. A couple might die… or they might not. That’s it…. that’s the future.

We used to call this assessing personal risk, deciding that the risk is minor, and getting on with the business of living one’s life. But somewhere along the way, this perfectly sane, normal way of living our lives became problematic.

We need to re-learn this skill quickly, before we can no longer remember how. College football seems determined to help us make it happen.
