in one of my earliest posts, TRUMP 2024?, I pointed out that Biden’s 2020 win was a very narrow tactical victory, as opposed to a strategic one. What I mean by that is the Democrats did nothing to change the facts on the ground that led to Trump’s initial surprise win, they simply used a bunch of extraordinary and unrepeatable circumstances, like COVID, to eek out enough EVs to pull off a win. The disaffection afflicting much of “flyover country” has not gone away, it has NOT been “fixed”, and Biden, at least so far, has done nothing but stick a thumb in their eye and go merrily on his way.
Now I’m starting to see this theory pop up in the press more and more. I suspect that it’s the more moderate wing of the party trying to send up the Bat Signal as a warning. Problem is, the party is run by the ideologues now and I think they genuinely believe they have a mandate for hard Left Progressive Governance.
I think they’re wrong about that. Really REALLY wrong. As the man sang, “I see…. trouble on the way…”
